Saturday Morning Intro to Glazing Clinic
Description- Saturday December 7th, 9:30-12:00.
This is a 2.5-hour glaze clinic for students new to glazing and ceramic art, or those in need of a review or introduction to Handle Factory glazes. We will cover the best practices for using the Handle Factory’s studio glaze area.
All new members are required to attend this class.
You will learn-
- How to choose the best glazes options for the form and function of your piece.
- How to understand and use the glaze charts on the walls.
- Specifics about the glazes we provide in this studio including pointers and cautions.
- The difference between slips and underglazes and when to apply them.
- How to prepare your ceramics for glazing.
- How to prepare the glaze you are using and how to safely apply glazes
- How to effectively use wax resist.
- How to glaze different shapes.
- The importance of good record keeping.
We will troubleshoot glaze problems with examples- (You are welcome to bring any finished glazed pieces you want to discuss in class).
This is a clinic for those new to glazing, limited glazing experience, people new to the Handle Factory and those with prior experience.
