Sculpture Lab for all Levels
Thursday evenings 6-8pm. 8 weeks beginning April 4th, ending May 30th (no class April 25th)
Whether you just want to try out sculpting or have an idea for your next project, you are welcome to join the Sculpture Lab. During each class there will be demos based on student interest. Beginners will be given options for projects or are free to just experiment. Advanced students will be supported in taking their sculpting to the next level.
Techniques covered may include building solid, pinching, coiling, slab building and/or using armatures and other forms of support while building, creating different surface textures, stamping & rolling, and/or glazing sculptures with oxides. Additionally, if you already know how to throw on the wheel, you are welcome to include thrown forms into your creations.
$300 tuition includes class instruction, 25 lbs of clay, glazes and firing, and 4 hours of independent studio time.
Instructor LJ Boswell approaches teaching art as a way to help everyone discover their inner artist. (We all have one!) They have been sculpting for over 20 years and teaching at the Handle Factory for 2 years. As an artist and educator, LJ delights in helping students develop their skills along with their own style, confidence and joy of creating. Having been an elementary classroom teacher, a middle school homeschool art teacher, a mentor to college student leaders and an arts and crafts teacher in nursing homes, LJ has literally taught art to ages five to 101!
